About the Role:

The OpenRouter team is making its first non-engineering hire! We are looking for an ambitious, AI-enthusiast to own our community & developer relations, front-line support, and maintain our model marketplace. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated individual looking to break into the AI industry, build technical expertise, and work directly with a world-class team on the front-lines of AI adoption. We hope that the right candidate will grow with the company, become a leader, and identify how we’ll work at the next turn of scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Support (33%):
    • Respond to and resolve support tickets from end-users, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
    • Work towards automation and better systems; use emerging AI tools to solve the majority of tickets.
    • Triage technical issues and collaborate with the engineering team for escalation.
    • Maintain a knowledge base of FAQs and solutions for users.
  2. Community Management / Developer Relations (33%):
    • Stay current and engage with our active Discord community, answering questions, providing updates, and keeping the community healthy.
    • Serve as the bridge between our user community and internal teams, identifying trends, issues, and opportunities.
    • Where the community extends to other platforms (GitHub, X, etc), offer support and identify ways to make OpenRouter better for our users.
  3. Model Maintenance and Integration (34% — the extra 1% has to go somewhere!):
    • Onboard new AI models to our platform using our internal tools.
    • Perform routine model maintenance and updates, ensuring reliability and performance.
    • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement process improvements.

About You:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of professional experience, ideally in a tech start-up, developer relations, or operations role.
  • Technical Skills: Some familiarity with coding up demos and scripts. We don’t expect you to be writing production code, but you can follow e.g. an on-boarding tutorial for an API-first product, and aren’t immediately stuck if something goes wrong. Have pulled projects down from GitHub and run them. Some experience with either JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python.
  • Community Skills: Strong written communication skills and an ability to foster positive engagement in online communities.
  • Mindset: Ambitious, self-starter, eager to learn, and passionate about AI. You thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields is a plus but not required if technical aptitude is demonstrated.

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to work at the cutting edge of real-world LLM applications.
  • Growth potential into more specialized or senior roles as the company scales.
  • Collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and equity.
